Let it snow, Let it snow, Let it SNOW???!! FEBRUARY 2010

On the rare occasion that it snows here in TEXAS from the buzz going around you would think that the world had stopped...it is a BIG BIG deal...the schools had no problem with me taking the kids out early and I went to target later on and it was a ghost town there. People more than freak out! The snow was a riot though while it lasted for 3 days or so...

This picture doesn't capture how gianormous the snowflakes were...what seemed to be in only a few minutes the ground was covered...you know what they say...it's bigger in texas...even in our rare snowstorms!

We are obviously not prepared for this kind of thing...check out the walmart bag boots!!! Don't know what good they did...the kids' shoes got really wet anyway.

Our man made of snow sporting a Collin original tie...I purposefully picked this one to put on the snowman hoping it wouldn't return to the tie collection...sorry Collin! :)

Kev had already gone in a cleaned up but he helped build this magnificent fort so he tuffed it out being cold again...Kev what is up with the shorts though?

The proud snow fort makers...this fort was one of the last (if not THE last one) to melt away.

The HAIR that stopped traffic!

Some of you may not have gotten a good look at Kendi's "HAIRSTYLE" when she was a newborn. Everywhere I would go, people would stop me and want to see this hair that was the 8th wonder of the world. I literally had to plan extra time into my errands because I would get stopped so much and looking at these pictures you can see why!

Thank YOU ALY....and A SMELLY EXPLANATION

I just wanna take a sec to thank you Aly for the tutorial and help with my blog cuz now it all makes sense (well most of it) and I am excited to use this as my scrapbook and to keep in touch with family and friends...Thanks Aly so much!! You are amazing, creative, adorable and beautiful...Kiss Craig and Ellie for me...miss you!!!

Matter of fact I miss and love ALL of YOU in my family very MUCH! Thankfully this life is not the end and I will try to be good so I can spend eternity with all you smellys...(in case some of you need initiating to the term "smelly" my smelly brother Ryan made it up when we were smelly kids..."smelly" is kind of a term of endearment (sometimes) and we, in the Young family use it when we are describing something smelly but not necessissarily something that smells bad...but definately we use it when you do something smelly. Like if you made a smelly face, a smelly joke or said something smelly! If you just hang around us smelly Youngs for awhile you will get the hang of being smelly. Does that make sense or does that smell? I love the smelly lot of you so yall be good too so we can all be smelly in heaven!

This is an example of my adorable dad being SMELLY!

Love you "D"...you make life fun and smelly!

Kevin's Christmas Carol

The Christmas Carol is one of my favorite Christmas stories (I love the musical version starring Kelsey Grammer and Jennifer Love Hewitt) and so I thought it was GREAT when Kev and his buds (Amir and Kyle) decided to be in the play! It was so great that he got to be Dead Jacob Marley. Kevin did a fantastic job...he did great with the many many lines he had and he spoke with enthusiasm and expression! He is a ham! It was great to see him on the stage as a performer. I was also impressed by the stage, crew, lighting, directing, and special effects that they had at the studio...so we hope to see Kev in future plays; maybe Taya or Kendi will get into the lights, camera and action too! Kevin said his favorite part of the play was using his powers to stun E. Scrooge and yelling at him cause it "released his inner emotions!"

Here is Kev with his Jacob Marley makeup on...doesn't he look GREAT, SPOOKY and OLD!!!!

Above is Kev with his buddies...
Amir on the far left of Kev was Peter Kratchet
and Kyle next to Kev was Bob Kratchet.

Kevin scares his acting teacher!

Let's Go to the Hop...

Taya's 50's day at school
Our sweet neighbor Donna let us borrow this adorable costume that SHE MADE! I need to take some sewing lessons from her!

This picture of Kendi makes me laugh everytime I see it! Don't you just wanna kiss those big cheeks!

The big bruise on my arm is from Kendi pinching me...those little fingers really packed a punch!

Taya was hula hoopin away!

Black Rock Park at Lake Buchanan...Camping in April 2010

For the first time as a family, we all went camping. Camping has never been mine or Collin's forte' but I think we might be doing more of it in the future. You might say we are nuts because we endured gusty winds that seemed to elevate our tent, a downpour of rain (it was Texas-sized rain too), a leaky tent and one of the loudest and scariest claps of thunder and lightening I don't ever want to be that close to again. However, I realized that no matter what may come I am going to be ok and my husband, children, friends and the gospel are the most important parts of my life. The memory of the camping trip will remain a highlight of Spring 2010!

(Honestly though, when that thunder and lightening crashed what seemed to be inches away from our tent I grabbed Collin and with big eyes wondering "What on earth are we thinking???")

I wished I would of taken more pictures of the event...Taya's swamp monster feet and hands, our tent, our friends, Kendi's sticker burr shoes and Poppy's sticker burr body (luckily the burrs were green and soft still), Collin's crispy bacon cookin', Collin in his poncho securing the tent and Bry and Kev playing capture the flag.

Kev and Kendi posing in the bluebonnets on the lakeshore.

Bry and Poppy on the way home! He has a water bottle that he was stashing all of the burrs in.
We called her FURRY BURRY!

I Think I CAN!!!

Well, I set a goal with Aly Young (Craig's wife) to have a blog up and running as my new year's resolution for 2009 and here we are in 2010. Better late than never! Aly-I wish you could walk me through this. I just need to keep telling myself.."I Think I CAN!!!...I Think I CAN!!!"
